The Warsaw University of Technology is enjoying its 175th anniversary in 2001. Excellence in teaching and research are critical to the University's mission and we believe that as well as having a strong sense of commitment to the global community we can maintain the highest standards expected of an internationally renowned University in today's increasingly global world.

The University has a long tradition of welcoming students from other parts of the world, enabling them to share the experience of University life in Warsaw and to join the many graduates of the University who are to be found in all parts of the world.
The origins of the Faculty of Management date back to 1922. The Warsaw University of Technology introduced management education as the first university in Poland and one of the firsts in the world. It was due to Prof. Karol Adamiecki, who is recognised as the founder of scientific management in Poland. He published his first papers on managerial problems in 1898, even before F.W.Taylor. Prof. Adamiecki also developed and applied the concept of scheduling, before H.L.Gantt. In 1925 he founded The Polish Institute of Scientific Management.

Our one hundred twenty academics and many visiting professors, drawn from over twenty countries, contribute with distinction to contemporary business practice and thought. Cutting edge, widely published, listed in the "Who is Who in the World" and award winning, they are in demand as advisers and consultants to companies, institutions and governments alike.

The Faculty of Management build close relationships with industry world-wide so that their state-of-the-art thinking is delivered into global management practice as rapidly as possible. Manufacturing companies, banks, insurance companies, and many other industries, among them blue chips, enjoy privileged access to our research and thinking and the work of our faculty is critical in improving their management operations.
